Can Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar be Purchased Without Crossbar for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Hard Rock

Question:

I need the RM1444-3 baseplate for my Jeep Hard Rock. It states this is a direct mount baseplate and no crossbar is needed. Is there a configuration to buy the Sterling towbar without the unnecessary crossbar?

There is not a configuration to get the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-576 without the crossbar. I checked with Roadmaster concerning the fit of a Sterling Tow Bar on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Hard Rock and they state that when using the Sterling tow bar you should use of the Crossbar-Style Baseplate # 1444-1 because these are what will allow you to use the brackets for the cables that come with the Sterling; you would have no place to hook the Sterling's safety cables with the direct connect baseplates.

If you wanted to use the Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # 1444-3 I highly recommend using a different tow bar, the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-676 for a direct connection.

The other parts you are going to need in order to flat tow your '16 Wrangler Unlimited Hard Rock are:

- Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- If your motor home has air brakes: SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes # SM99243

You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your Jeep level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
