How Does P2 Brake Controller Install in 2007 Chevy Silverado with Integrated Brake Controller
Question:
My 2007 duramax with ITBC is working properly with my gooseneck with electric brakes, but not with the other gooseneck with Electric over hydraulic brakes. So, I wired in a P2 brake controller and I am not getting it to function properly. I just connected the wires under the steering column into the new brake controller. It will not recognize either of the trailers. However the ITBC will still recognize the electric brake trailer I connected a tester onto the blue wire, without a trailer connected. With this connected, itll show trailer connected and the controller will change voltages as it should when the lever is moved or brakes are applied. Do I need to run a new brake controlblue wire from the controller to the 7 pin on the bumper? Or is there something else that needs to be done?

We have a special help article that covers your exact scenario of installing an aftermarket brake controller like the P2 part # 90885 in a GM truck like your 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500. I attached a link to it on this page for you to check out. Basically there are a few connections under the dash that need to be made a few under the hood and you'd be set.
You'll need some 12 gauge wire like part # 12-1-1 (sold by the foot) to complete the wiring as well.
