Parts Needed to Install a 5-Way Trailer Wiring Connector in 2009 Subaru Forrester

Question:

If I use your T-1 adapter to wire my trailer plug, would I have to splice into the factory wiring to get the backup light wire or can I splice into a wire between the plug and adapter?

Reverse light circuits aren't present at standard trailer 4-way connectors like what the # 118467 provides. You'd have to use a 4-way to 5-way adapter like part # 20036 to carry that extra circuit. You'd need to run the extra wire of the adapter up to the reverse light circuit of vehicle at the reverse lights and use the included quick splice connector to make the connection.
