7-Way Wiring for 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Extended Cab 4WD
Question:
My existing 7 pole connector has two separate wiring harness connections. One with 4 blades and the other has 3. I have been having a difficult time finding a replacement that matches. It appears that part#319-R7-02D has two separate connectors like mine but I cant determine from the photos if they will match my truck harness. I am attaching photos of my existing harness. Can you confirm that these will match or advise if there is another product that will work for a replacement? Thanks.

Thank you for your photo showing the two connectors for your Ram's 7-way connector. 7-way part # 319-R7-02D does not match your setup but we do have alternatives to get you a 7-way.
One alternative is to replace those connectors with a standard U.S. Car harness and 7-way kit # 20023. This has a harness you can hard wire in place of your two plugs and it has the round connector that will simply plug in to the back of the 7-way, making it each to replace that item if it ever gets worn or damaged.
You'll want to test the contacts on both of your plugs to confirm the function carried on each wire; you'll need a circuit tester like # PTW2992. With the wires/functions identified you can then make the appropriate spliced connections to the harness part in the kit.
Another option is to install a whole new 7-way set up using 4-pole kit # 118329 (which plugs in at the tail lights) along with part # ETBC7 which includes all the parts to convert the 4-pole to a fully-functioning 7-way that is completely independent of any factory wiring.
