Comparing Tire Sizes For Replacement Trailer Tires Currently Using Size 5.7-8 on Motorcycle Trailer

Question:

Hello, I am trying to find a replacement tire/rim package for a 5.7-8 that is currently on my motorcycle trailer. Would a 145/80r12 tire size be comparable if the rims are replaced also? I am having trouble finding the physical sizes of each tire. thank you.

Your current 5.7-8 tires are 5.7 inches wide and 18 inches in diameter. Moving to 145/80r12 tires would give you the same width, but a larger diameter of 21.1 inches. If you want to stay with your current size tires I've linked the page to all your options. This will give you a height difference of 3 inches and that reduces your wheel well or fender clearance by 1.5 inches. You need to account for suspension travel, but if you have enough clearance you can swap out your wheels and tires.

For a similar diameter but a different width you can use the 215/60-8 tires which will have a diameter of 18.3 inches but a width of 8.9 inches. So you would need to account for a backspacing difference of 1.6 inches. If you have that additional difference between your frame and the back of your current tire then you can use # AM3H290 for a 4 lug hub or # AM3H310 for 5 lug.
