Do Weight Distribution Spring Bar Hangers Have to Be Installed in Recommended Location
Question:
Hello, I’ve installed this set up on my 9K lbs RV. I installed it exactly as the instructions instructed with the exception that I had to move the A frame brackets up closer to the truck in order to clear the battery holding bracket. So instead of the 4” the instructions said I had to install them 6” in from the end of the bars. Is this ok to do? Next question, when everything is hooked up and the truck is measured, I only get 3/4” in the front compared to the 2” in the back. The bars are adjusted as low as they can go in the A frame bracket and are parallel to the trailer frame as instructed to do. Is there a way to get the weight more evenly distributed on the truck with no more adjustments available? Thanks.

You really need to get the spring bar hangers where they were designed to be on the frame for the spring bars to operate like they are supposed to. I suspect the issue you are having where it seems like they aren't able to provide enough spring bar tension is because the brackets are too far back and they don't have the amount of leverage they need to work properly. Since you have interference on your trailer frame where they need to install you can bolt them directly to the trailer frame where they need to be.
