Recommended Slide-Out Awning for 2015 Sanibel 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

Hi, My wife and I are new to the travel trailer game, we have been doing it for about 3 years now. We started out with a 24 foot tow behind Travel Trailer, and we liked it so much that after the first year we sold it and bought a used 2015 Sanibel 40 foot fifth wheel. We camped out last year about 8 times and really enjoyed camping. After a while, We found out that the slide out on the passenger side would leak during a rain storm. It appears that someone may have gone up on top and stood on the slide out causing it to bow down holding water and after it filled it would go under the seal and leak inside the trailer. I have had the seals replaced, however, we still have the problem. Im praying that the awning will resolve the issue. The slide out measures 13.3. So from what Ive read I need to get a 14 foot awning. Is that correct? Also, Does the Kit for the 14foot awning come complete with everything I will need to do the installation myself? Are there any tips, or tricks I should know about to do the installation?

You are correct that the Solera 14' Slider (Slide-Topper) in Black w/ Black Hardware # LCV000168110 or white # LCV000163301 is the correct fit for the measurements you gave. This fits measurements from flange to flange of 158 to 163-3/4 inches. This comes with all the hardware needed to install except for the Butyl tape like # 344270341411-1 or silicone sealant like # 344270341437-1.

I've attached some videos of the installation to assist. You will want to have a second set of hands and the easiest way to connect the awning fabric to the rail extrusion on your trailer is to keep the roll close to the rail and the fabric snug as you slide the fabric seam into the rail.

This will keep water from pooling on your slide out and will solve your issue.
