Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for use with a Curt Motor Home Trailer Hitch

Question:

Based on your recommendations, I am planning to purchase the 13703 adjustable RV hitch and the S64670-XTC2 Bike Rack. I have owned two other bike racks. Both have failed due to the bouncing around on the rear of my Holiday Rambler Savoy LS, with bike wheel and tire damage. Will the above combination maintain control of the bikes without additional strapping?

As you probably know, there are only certain bike racks that are rated for use behind an RV or trailer. The Swagman XTC-2, # S64670, is one that you can use. The trailer hitch, # 13703, requires that you use a stabilizer strap, # 18050. Curt requires the strap to be in compliance with their warranty.

The strap is actually a good idea when using a bike rack at the back of an RV or trailer. The reason is that the strap reduces a lot of that up and down bouncing movement which reduces stress on the hitch and bike rack. So, not only will you have a bike rack rated for RV or trailer use, but the strap will offer extra protection.
