Correct Weight Distribution Shank for 2017 Ford F-250 with 6 Inch Lift and 37 Inch Tires
Question:
I have a standard equalizer anti sway hitch trunnion and just purchased a new/used 2017 Ford f250 with a 6inch lift and 37inch tires that replaced a Totoya tundra no lift. I need a shank replacement to my equalizer a little lower. I am assuming I need this curt with a 9. The truck hitch bottom of hitch to the ground is 23inch - account for the measurement to the top of ball add 3 inches - 26. The travel trailer is level at 18inch where the hitch ball fits into the trailer top of hitch ball to ground. I would assume I would need a 7-8inch . which adds an additional inch for good measure. Does this sound correct? The hitch receiver is 2.5inch square. Thanks

The correct way to measure for rise/drop is from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube (A) and then from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler while level (B). The difference between these two measurements will then give you the correct rise/drop (C). Therefore, your A measurement minus your B measurement will give you your C measurement which will be for drop.
I am having a hard time trying to decipher where you are measuring from but I can tell you that the most amount of drop we offer in a trunnion bar weight distribution shank is the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches part # C17132 which offers up to 9-1/4". Therefore, this will be the best option we have for you to tow level. I will say that even if you are a few inches off or so it will not cause too much of an issue. The tongue weight of your trailer will also bring down the A measurement as well. The Curt Weight Distribution Shank will work with your Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System just fine.
