Why Does Firestone Fuse Tap F2526 Have High Amperage Fuses But Thin Gauge Wire
Question:
If this only has a 16 guage wire how can it work with a 30 amp accessory. 30 amp fuses need 10 guage wire?

So the fuses that come with the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526 actually don't protect the circuit on the wire. They are for protecting the circuit that the fuse tap is installed in. So let's say you pull out a 30 amp fuse and install the fuse tap in place of it. The fuse you install in the tap is what protects the circuit of the fuse box...the wire then is not circuit protected as it's just a signal wire that does not draw amperage.
