Snow Chain Availability For 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP With 255/45R18 Tire Size
Question:
I am looking for snow chains for my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. I prefer to have the diamond pattern chains for better traction because we are planning on driving through the rocky mountains in Colorado after christmas. It says the GC9 chains will fit my car with the low profile tire 255/45/ZR18 on front. In the owners manual it says not to use snow chains due to clearance issues, is it still okay to use them if I try them on once I receive them and there are no clearance issues?

The Thule CG9 Tire Chains, part # TH2004205104, will fit the 255/45R18 tire size. We may have chains that will fit that tire size but if your owners manual states not to use chains on your 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, you cannot use chains.
If you are driving in an area that requires chains like in the mountains or any area that requires you to have chains on by law, you could use chains that require 0 millimeters of clearance like the Thule K-Summit Tire Chains, part # TH02230K44, just in those areas. But again, you will need to go by the manufacturer recommendations.
If the manual states not to use chains and you do and it causes damages, repairs will not be covered by warranty.
I am including a couple of links to FAQ pages on snow tire chains.
