Brake Controller and Trailer Wiring for 1997 Ford F-350 Utility Body Without Factory Wiring

Question:

NO TRAILER PLUG AT REAR OF BODY, HAVE FOUND 4 WIRES TAPED TOGETHER ON INSIDE OF FRAME NEAR FUEL TANK, THESE CARRY SIGNAL FOR TURN AND TAIL, BUT SHOULD THERE BE ANOTHER PLUG ON THIS CHASSIS THAT ALREADY HAS PIGTAIL TO MATCH AND PLUG AND PLAY. LOOKING TO ADD #90195 E BRAKE CONTROLLER, WITH ETBC7 ADAPTER KIT, TO ADD TRAILER LIGHTING AND TRAILER BRAKE SIGNAL TO A 2 AXLE TRAILER DUMP.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55316 is what you need if there is a factory connection near the rear bumper like pictured on the driver's side. If it is there, then you will use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7.

If that connector isn't present, then I recommend using the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector, 7' Lead # 20023 to get to the wires you mentioned and the connector at your bumper. Then use the universal brake controller wiring kit # 5506 to connect the Prodigy P3 # 90195 you referenced.

The hardwiring will be very similar to the ETBC7 article attached.
