How to Correctly Wire a 7-Way Trailer Connector  

Question:

If my wiring is all there and I have a black and blue wire thats lose from trailer looks like if they grounded it with the blue and black but theres another black and blue from the trailers battery and theres 2 white wires. And I am ready hook up the new connector and my lights dont power on? I think i used a universal connector. Help? Thanks

It sounds like you have a 7-Way connector on your trailer like part # H20046. The problem with trailer wiring is that there are common wiring colors but there aren't any standards so any color can be used for any function.

To make sure that you connect all of the correct wires to the correct pins I recommend taking a 12V battery and test all of the wiring to figure out their functions. Ground the negative terminal and then use a wire on the positive terminal to do so. You can use the attached diagram to ensure that you have everything connected properly.
