Tire Chains for a 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon

Question:

The tire only says 185R14C. The owners manual says nothing nor could I find any stickers anywhere I measured and came up with 13 cm. (130mm). Thanks

If you have 185/60-14 tires on your 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon then yes, the Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains part # TH01221050 will work for you. It looks like you provided both the section width "185" and wheel diameter "14" but not the aspect ratio. I would need this to recommend a fit if the above is not correct. It should be listed on the sidewall of the tire after the section width and before the wheel diameter. If it is not then you would need to take a tape measure and measure from top to the wheel to the top of the tire (see photo) in millimeters.

I would also take a quick peek in the owner's manual for either vehicle to be sure you are following the manufacturer's recommendations.

If section height of your tires is 130mm then that means you have 185/70-14 tires. Therefore, the Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains part # TH01221050 will not work for you but we do have the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC1530 which are a fit and will work just as well. These chains have the same diamond pattern but come with color coded sections for easy installation. I have attached a review video for you as well.
