Can 13" Wheel be Used to Replace 16" Wheel on 1990 Scamp Trailer
Question:
Hi, Ive seen this question asked but wanted to ask for clarification and an additional question. I have 1990 Scamp trailer which i believe has 16 inch rims on it. I need to lower it to get in the garage. I would like to get the smallest rim available. I pulled the wheen and hub/drum assembly said it had a 10.08 circumference. It sounds like a 13 inch rim is the smallest I could go. Is that correct? Are there any other commercial solutions made for this purpose? Something that could just be bolted on that is 11? Also, if i want to upgrade existing wheels can I purchase any of the 16 inch rims with same lug pattern 5 on 4.5 Thanks

Yes, if you have 10" hub/drum assemblies on your trailer then the smallest wheel that is compatible is a 13" wheel like you stated.
There are other ways to lower your trailer like using shorter hangers but to use smaller wheels like 11" then you would need to swap out your hub and drum assembly. You may be able to do this but I would need to know your bearings and seal numbers or dimensions to let you know if this is possible.
If you wanted to upgrade your 16" wheels the smallest bolt pattern we have is the 6 on 5-1/2" like what you would find on the HWT # AM22658HWTB.
Let me know what direction you would like to go and I can help you get the parts needed.
