What Gauge Wire is Needed for 12 Volt Power Circuit of Curt Echo Controller Part # C51180

Question:

I have one question I cannot find anywhere about this controller. As I will be using this with a 4-way upgrade, I know there is no need for the blue controller wire, but what gauge wire and circuit breaker are still required for the power to the socket? I know of the ETBC7L kit, but I may opt for another model HM40975-11998 due to the firmer mounting of the 4-way connector. Thank you!

Your best option for converting a 4-way to a 7-way while planning to use the Curt Echo # C51180 is to use the 4-way to 7-way part # 37185 to give you the 7-way connector and then use 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) through a breaker like part # 9510 and you'd be set. I wouldn't recommend smaller than 10 gauge for powering the 12 volt circuit needed.
