Is Cushioned Ball Mount Recommended for Light Trailer
Question:
I am considering purchasing this ball mount but am not sure if there is any benefit when towing our tear trailer. The ball mount is rated for 10,000 and our trailer is only 1000 to 1500. Will the polyurethane s be too hard to give our lighter trailer much cushioning? Thanks for your time.

Expert Reply:
The polyurethane interior that cushions the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC2 will still be beneficial for you even though your trailer is lightweight and this ball mount has a 10,000 lb towing capacity and 2,000 lb tongue weight capacity.
Even with a light tear trailer there is still going to be movement that occurs when you are towing; your trailer will bounce and inertia is going to cause some shock and strain on your vehicle when you stop, start and slow down. The Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC2 works as a shock absorber and absolutely remain beneficial.
This hitch will fit a 2" receiver and I recommend locking it to your hitch with the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880; for a hitch ball you can use 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40002 or 2" Hitch Ball # 40038.
