Is Trailer Tire Capacity the Sum of All Tires

Question:

Hi: The tires on my trailer each have a 1600lb. load capacity. Does that mean that together they can carry 3200 lbs. total ?

Helpful Expert Reply:

It sure does.

If you add the capacity of your trailer tires you will get their total capacity, so in your case a pair of trailer tires with a 1,600 lb capacity will equal 3,200 lbs. Just be sure to inflate your tires to their maximum cold psi. Doing this will give you the best performance and enable their maximum capacity. It will also allow the tire to wear more slowly and give you optimum gas mileage.
