Transmission Cooler for a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with 6.2 Liter Motor
Question:
I have a 1500 Chevrolet silverado crew cab 4x4. The max towing is 7200 pounds and my travel trailer is about 4000 pounds. Where I live dont have many hills but there are some tall bridges to cross. It has the 6.2 liter with a 8 speed transmission. The gear ratio 3.23. Do I need an aftermarket transmission cooler if so what would you recommend.

Expert Reply:
A supplemental transmission cooler is always a good idea for vehicles with automatic transmissions. Cooler fluid means less wear on the transmission. This is especially helpful when towing so I do recommend a supplemental cooler for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 6.2 liter motor.
The most popular option is Derale cooler # D13503. There should be plenty of room under the hood of your truck for this 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep cooler. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation on a similar vehicle.
Please note that it is not always necessary to remove the front clip on a vehicle for installation. We do it even when not required to make it easier for the viewer to see what is going on.
