Compatibility of Thule Force XT 16 Cargo Box on a 2018 Mazda CX-5
Question:
Ive been checking your site, the Thule site, and other vendors sites. I was wondering if a Thule Force L would fit on a 2018 Mazda CX-5? Our CX-5 has factory side rails and crossbars. Ive seen photos of a Force XL on someones CX-5 looked a bit too large, and I know that Mazda sells the Force M for the CX-5. As long as I adjust the lift height on the hatch, shouldnt I be able to use a Force L?

The Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - AeroSkin Black # TH6357B requires 47-1/2 inches of clearance between the front crossbar and the line where the hatch meets the roof to allow full hatch clearance for access. You can use the cargo box without this clearance but it will limit the access to your hatch.
To compare the 13 Cubic foot Force Medium TH624 you referenced requires a measurement of 41-7/8 inches from that front crossbar to the hatch seam. It is 65 inches long compared to the 74 inches of the Force Large.
For another reference, I've attached a video of the Thule Pulse Large # TH615 which is 76 inches long and requires 46-3/8 inches between the front crossbar and hatch seam. You should absolutely be able to use the Thule Force Large if that is your desired roof box based on that information and the attached video of a 2015 model CX-5.
