Will the Thule T2 Pro XTB Fit on a Motorhome Towing a Tow Dolly

Question:

I would like to pull a tow dolly and use a Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack with my Class A motorhome. I was looking at using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2inch Receiver, Item # D210inch although Im concerned that the ball will be too high for a tow dolly. It is approximately 21inch from the ground to the center of the receiver tube of the motorhome. Will the Thule platform rack clear the tow dolly and towed vehicle and is the Curt ball mount height appropriate for a tow dolly.

Helpful Expert Reply:

You need to determine if the 2-1/4 inches of drop of the Curt # D210 is appropriate with your tow dolly. Find the difference from your 21 inch measurement on your RV's receiver and the distance from the ground to the bottom of the dolly's coupler. This is how you find the rise or drop you need in a ball mount. If the 2-1/4 inch drop of the # D210 works with this then you'll be fine.

You shouldn't have any issues using the Thule T2 Pro XTR, part # TH83JV, with the ball mount. You should make sure there's enough space between the receiver opening and the front of the car when it's on the dolly though. The bike rack is 41-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to its furthest point. So it'll reach 49 inches from the hitch pin hole on your motorhome's receiver all the way to the end of the rack.

If the # D210 won't work for you another option is a Gen-Y ball mount. I've linked our selection so you can see them and find the correct drop you need. The Gen-Y line is fairly heavy-duty so they're kind of extreme for what youi need but they could still work.
