Is Factory Transmission Cooler Bypassed With New Cooler Installed on a 2007 Ford F-150

Do I by pass the factory transmission cooler when I install a aux. Transmission cooler?

No, when you install a transmission cooler, you are installing it as a supplemental system to assist the factory system. You would not want to bypass the factory cooler as that would not be nearly as beneficial, even if the new cooler is larger than the old one.

The preferred method is to use the insta-dapt fitting at the radiator in the return line that takes fluid back to the transmission. Instead, you will have this line go to the inlet of the new cooler. The outlet will then be ran back to the transmission.

If you have the space in front of the radiator, I would go with a larger cooler like # D13504, because transmission fluid cannot be overcooled. You may also need the Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025. I have included a link to our FAQ article on transmission coolers for you to view.
