Converting Trailer With 5 Flat to 4 Flat Connector
Question:
I have a tow behind motorcycle trailer with a flat 5 wire plug. The motorcycle has a 4 square plug. How do I combine the 5 wires to adapt to a 4pin plug? The trailer is wired with left and right turn, brake lights, running lights and a ground. The bike has a standard Hopkins 4 square plug on it. Thanks

Expert Reply:
A trailer 5-way normally has different functions than what you described: right turn, left turn, tail lights, ground and and additional wire that is usually tapped into the backup lights to disengage the hydraulic trailer coupler. We would not have an adapter that works with the functions you currently have so I recommend cutting off the 5 way, splicing your wires together and adding 4-way connector # 18004.
