The brakes on a trailer work by either using a hydraulic system with a surge brake actuator, like part # T43397007K, or by a brake controller in the tow vehicle sending a signal back to the electric trailer brakes. Controllers like the P3 # 90195 have different settings and a manual override for emergency braking situations.

I am not sure where the fuse box would be located on your 1993 Award Travel Trailer but the one for your tow vehicle should be under the hood. You can find the locations for the fuse box in the manual whether you are referring to the trailer or your vehicle.

If you have brakes on your trailer and you need a brake controller in your tow vehicle just let me know the year/make/model of your vehicle and if it has a tow package and I can help you get everything setup for towing your Award trailer. Review videos for the parts mentioned have been linked for you to check out.
