Brake Controller and 7-Way Recommendation for 2005 Ford Explorer

Question:

I am at the point of pulling my hair. I have 2005 ford explorer xlt. I am trying to run lights to my camper. It took me days to find that factory installed harness plug. Now that I found it, it is a 6 pin plug but using only 4. So now how do I go from square plug to 7pin round. I have not run my power line tobrake control Or the power line to the plug

Sounds like your camper uses the Jayco style 6-way square like what the part # 37995 has. It also sounds like you found the connector for a 4-way on your 2005 Ford Explorer like what the part # C55251 is designed to attach to. If you have a Coleman camper the connector is similar but different.

To convert the 4-way of your Explorer to a 7-way (after installing the part # C55251), you'd want the part # ETBC7 plus a brake controller like our P3 part # 90195. Then you could use the # 37995 and the # H20043 to make an adapter for the 7-way to the square connector. If you have something different let me know as I am pretty sure this is what's going on but I am not totally sure.
