Trailer Left Turn Signal Stopped Working on a 2001 Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty with Tow Package
Question:
In my truck tow wiring my left turn signal quit. The original Ford part is 13A576CA which is similar to the 118243 but mine has a 4 pin pigtail up to a 6 pin in the truck bed. An additional splice of the blue wire was sent up to the 6 pin. Ive traced the left turn signal back to where the part above connects to the harness under the bed. I do not detect any Left turn signal power coming from upstream at that connector. After reading about your part Im wondering about the relay. Is there a relay or fuse specifically for the yellow wire that controls the Left turn signal? Perhaps that is fried. Any thoughts? Im hoping that is the problem. If not Ill have to have someone else trace the deeper wires. Thanks!

Expert Reply:
The relays and fuses that are included with the Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, # 118243, do not affect the turn signal functions but there could still be relays/fuses related to the tow package wiring that do affect the turn signals.
What you can do is to check with the vehicle owners manual for all of the fuses and relays related to the tow package. You can then check those to determine if there is a problem and replace as needed.
Otherwise, checking the wiring would be the next step to determine if there is a break or loose connection somewhere.
