Max Tire Temperature on Kendra Loadstar 205-65-10 E Rated Tire
Question:
Im seeing temp of 125 deg f or more after 15 mile of 65 mph freeway driving on a trailer with 1200 lbs on one tire, and 300 lbs on the other. Motorcycle/ sidecar combo so I cant center the load. Only about 8 lbs rise in air pressure. Ran at 87 lbs first then tried 64 lbs results were about the same. Outside temp was 82 deg, and sunny, not sure about asphalt temp.

The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire - 205/65-10 - Load Range E # AM1HP56 should be run at 90 psi when filled cold. Trailer tires are always to be run at their max psi listed on the tire when filled prior to getting on the road. Failure to do so may cause the tire to heat up more and wear unevenly eventually leading to failure.
The actual operating temperature of a trailer tire will vary quite a bit based on weather, (inflation, as noted), driving speed and the actual weight load on it. For every 10 degrees of ambient temperature change a trailer tire's inflation pressure will vary by about one pound. So if you started out in the morning with cold tires inflated to the correct pressure and stopped midday when the temperature was 30-degrees warmer than it was in the morning, then your tires would show about 3-psi more pressure.
I'm sure based on the offset load and the weights given the tire will be able to handle the load as it is rated for up to 1,650 lbs and speeds up to 87 mph. There is not a listed temperature for ideal range for these tires. Just to give you some reference point the TireMinder RV Tire Pressure Monitoring System for Smartphone - Signal Booster - 4 Transmitters # TPMS-APP-4 tracks temperatures between -4 degrees and 185 degrees. It gives a high temperature alert when internal tire temperature is at or above 167 degrees.
