Installing Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller on 2010 Ram 1500 with Factory Brake Controller
Question:
I have purchased the Prodigy P# 90195 and the 3021-P wiring harness. Is it absolutely required to have the computer flashed in order for the P3 to work? Also, once flashed, if i want to go back to the factory controller, do i need to have the computer flashed again? Thank you,

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 Trailer Brake Controller is an excellent choice and the Plug-In Adapter # 3021-P is exactly what you need to install it on your 2010 Ram 1500.
When you remove the factory brake controller on your Ram, it will activate a warning lamp on your instrument cluster. The only way to prevent or get rid of this light is to visit a local Ram dealer to have them reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) of the truck. You will want to wait until this is reconfigured before installing the Tekonsha P3.
The Prodigy P3 is superior to the factory unit on your Ram, so it's unlikely you will want to go back, but if you ever decide to back to your integrated controller you will indeed need to take a trip back to the dealer.
I have attached the complete instructions manual for the Prodigy P3 controller that you can also check out.
