CTEK 5.0 Battery Charger Will Not Reach Stage 7 While Charging
Question:
Hi, I have just bought the Ctek 5.0 charger for my DS 3 T/sport 1.6, 6 speed, for the “stop/Start to work, the battery needs to be 75 charged, however if I do a motorway run it works for a couple of days then nothing, hence the charger, “Q” I charged the battery over 4 days, 9 hour stints but, stage 7 was not reach e.g. fully charged, is the charger faulty or am I doing something wrong. I have followed the instructions on connecting the charger to the battery?

Helpful Expert Reply:
On my CTEK charger sometimes it loses the ground connection if using the alligator clips. I am not sure why it happens but cleaning off the ground location seems to do the trick. That is the first thing I would try.
Next I recommend having the battery tested because it may not be able to hold a charge which would disrupt the charger. There could also be some other electrical device that is drawing power from the battery due to a short.
If you exhaust these possibilities then the only thing left would be a problem with the charger.
