How to Add a Brake Controller to a 2004 Volvo XC70 and How to Add Brakes to a Pop-up Trailer
Question:
Im looking to add a brake controller paired with add-on electric brakes for a pop up camper. These will all be for a 2004 Volvo X70. Can you make you recommendations for what would work nicely for this? Thank you.

For your 2004 Volvo XC70, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # TK94FR. This brake controller installs on the trailer and will not require any modifications to the tow vehicle assuming you have a 7-way trailer connector with a functioning 12 volt circuit. If you do not then you will need to add one and for that you can use a combination of part # C59236 and part # 37185.
It sounds like you also need electric drum brakes for your pop-up camper as well. If this is the case then in order to offer my recommendation we need to know the axle capacity which should be found on the centerline of the axle, bearing/seal numbers or measurements, wheel size, and bolt pattern. If you need help finding your bearing/seal numbers or measurements and your bolt pattern then you will want to take a look at the two attached help articles I have attached for you which explains each process in depth. There is also a help article which explains everything that is needed to do this but I will go over this more with you when the time comes.
Once you can provide me with the above info then I would be more than happy to make sure you get the correct parts needed to add electric drum brakes to your trailer.
