Differences Between Trailer Weight Distribution System Round Bars and Trunnion Bars
Question:
What are the advantages of round vs trunnion spring bars. How should I determine what weight bars to use?

One difference between trunnion and round bar setups is how they attach to the head of the weight distribution system. The round style bars have grooves on the bar and just twist in. The trunnion style bars slide into the head from the side or back which makes it easier to hook up then the round bar system. Also the square bar trunnion style is a more heavy duty spring bar compared to the round bar.
Round bars offer less ground clearance than trunnion bars and the round bars have more flex for a little smoother ride.
Round bars work great for most applications. But when trailers start to get heavier with a higher tongue weight approaching 1,500 lbs, trunnion bars would be a better option.
If you can give me all of the information on your trailer and tow vehicle, I can help you decide on the correct weight distribution for your application.
