Trailer Winch Recommendations for Pulling a 2500 Pound Tractor on to a Trailer
Question:
What trailer hand winch would you recommend to move a 2500lb tractor? I would like the strap to be as long as possible.

The Hand winch you selected, Dutton-Lainson Brake Winch # DL15721, would be a great choice as long as your 2,500 lb tractor will always be a rolling load, and the angle of the ramps on the trailer will not be too steep. This winch can use the 20 foot strap, # DL24251, or the 25 foot cable, # DL24102.
If you need to move the tractor when not rolling, flat tire or some other mishap, I recommend using a winch with at least 5,000 lb capacity. A winch like this is only available in an electric winch. A great electric winch option that has over a 5,000 pound capacity is the Superwinch Tiger Shark Series Off-Road Winch # SW1595200. This winch has 95 feet of wire rope and would require wiring kit, # BDW20207 to connect to your truck. I have linked some articles that should help you determine which winch would be best for your situation.
Another consideration is mounting the hand winch. You will need to fabricate a mount that will allow for the winch handle to rotate 360 degrees.
