Draw-Tite Hitch Recommendation for Ground Clearance on a 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Does the C12270 reduce ground clearance under the outback? How does it match up with the hidden hitch or Drawtite options as far as reducing ground clearance? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
Since the CURT Trailer Hitch # C12270 will sit below the rear bumper of your 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon it will reduce the ground clearance on your vehicle.
However, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36284 will give you a little more ground clearance as the area that goes around the exhaust tip will go above the tip on the Draw-Tite hitch. Whereas, it goes below the tip on the CURT hitch.
Check out the picture I attached that shows both of these hitches installed on a similar vehicle as yours.
I also attached installation instructions for both hitches and an installation video for the # 36284.
