How to Determine Tire/Wheel Fitment for a 1983 Sailboat with ST175/80D13 Size Tires

Question:

The boat is fresh water only. My trailer has ST175/80 d-13. The center hole is 2.61inch dimeter, bolt pattern 5 on 4 1/2. The backside of the rim from the flat by the bolt holes is approx. 4 to 4 1/2inch to the outer rim. The bolt holes are 5/8inch dia. Would this rim fit my trailer or do you recommend another? Is there any other measurement needed to determine the right rim and tire?

The main things that you need to check to determine fitment of a new tire/wheel combo on your trailer is the diameter of the tire, the pilot hole, and the bolt pattern. Since these are the same for the Provider w/ 13" White Wheel # TA43RR (aside from the pilot hole being a little bigger).

This wheel fits on 1/2"-20 studs. It is usually good to check the stud size as well which I encourage you to try measuring the studs themselves as all of our 13" wheels are compatible with 1/2" diameter studs.

This wheel also measures 4-1/2" from bead seat to bead seat. I am wondering where you measured for that 4" to 4-1/2" that you mentioned. If that is an offset then that is a very extreme offset. Trailer tires typically don't have an offset which helps to center the load on the tire for better handling.

Aside from fitting you want to make sure that the tire/wheel combo is rated properly for your setup. This combo has a load range C (1,360 lbs at 50 psi) and a speed rating of 81 mph.

Let me know if you need a different load rating and I can help you find the correct combo for your application.
