Swing-Away Bike Rack Recommendation for 2012 Volvo XC70
Question:
I was going to order the Draw-Tite #75916 and was considering the Thule Apex Swing Away Rack. I noticed on one of your other responses that you recommended the Yakima Full Swing rather than the Thule Apex non swing because of bumper clearance. Will the Thule Swing Away be OK?

The Thule Apex Swing TH9027 Bike Rack is 3" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of its anti-rattle box; we have not test fit a hitch like the Draw-Tite # 75916 on a 2012 Volvo XC70, but we have test fit hitches on both a 2013 and 2011 model and each were at least 5" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the bumper.
That said, it is unlikely the Apex would work with your 2012 XC70. The Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 is a better option and is a full 9" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the foot of the carrier. It is a swing-away 4-bike rack with a very handy AutoPin hitch pin that only requires you to turn a knob to get the anti-rattle feature. The FullSwing also comes with integrated locks to secure the rack to your hitch and bikes to the rack, allowing you to protect your investments. I've added links to video reviews of this rack for you to take a look at.
Additionally, please note that when using a hanging rack like the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 you'll need bike frame adapter bar # Y02531 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.
