Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2013 Toyota Tundra with 4-Way Connector

Question:

My Tundra does not have a tow package. It is wired with a connector under the bumper for 4 flat. There is not wiring to the connector plug for power and brakes. I will be towing a travel trailer and will need of a 7 way plug and a brake controller. What parts will I need to complete this project?

The brake controller I recommend for your 2013 Toyota Tundra is the Prodigy P3, part # 90195. It's our top selling brake controller because of how easy it is to use and how reliable it is.

Since you have a factory 4-way trailer connector on your truck you might have a port under the dash to plug in a brake controller. Look up behind the emergency brake pedal near the kick panel for a white connector. It's pointed out in the picture I attached and you can see it in the video I've linked around the 1:00 minute mark. If you have this connector then you can use part # 37185, which is a 4-way to 7-way adapter. It plugs into your existing 4-way and you can find the 12 volt power circuit and brake output circuit near the rear of your truck to finish the install. Then use part # 3040-P to plug into the port under your dash and connect the P3 controller. I've linked a video of the kit being installed on a 2009 Tacoma. The process is basically the same because it's a universal part.

If you don't have that white connector behind the emergency brake you won't be able to use the plug-in adapter to install the P3. Instead use our # ETBC7 kit which includes the 7-way adapter and all of the wiring to install the brake controller. You need to run wires from the rear of the truck to activate the 12 volt power pin and for the brake output that goes to the controller.
