Does More Tension on Weight Distribution Spring Bars Transfer More Weight to Front Truck Axle
Question:
I have the curt 17500 weight distribution system. It was installed by Camping World but the installed it in an incorrect position. My trailer was tilting back and the tongue was not close to level. I made some adjustments by flipping the shank. My question is in regards to the trunion bars. Am I correct when I assume that more tension on the trunion bars equates to more weight distribution to the front of the truck?

Expert Reply:
The more tension that is on the spring bars such as those in Curt system # C17500, the more weight is distributed to all axles of the tow vehicle and trailer. It wouldn't be just on the truck side or just on the trailer side. I am glad that you noticed and corrected Camping World's mistake. That could have caused you some problems!
