Determining Correct Replacement Equalizers and Shackle Straps for Older Trailer
Question:
How do I determine what replacement parts I need e.g. dimensions? I purchased an older trailer and everything is pretty rusty and loose. Trailer appears to be a copycat home built unit with no visible vin or model number. Axles are 8 lug with brakes so I assume 7000lbs axles tandem. I am looking to purchase Shackles, bolts, equalizers, and bushings. Thank you

The easiest way to determine the correct replacement parts for your trailer's suspension is by simply measuring its existing components.
Looking at one of your current equalizers, you will want to measure from the center of the front hole to the center of the rear hole. Then measure from the center of the top hole down to the center line between the two lower holes. One of the more popular sized equalizers is a 7-3/4 inch long unit like # TREQE1. I have attached an image with the dimensions labeled on this size so you can see exactly what you will want to measure.
You can then just take some quick measurements on your current shackle straps to ensure you get matching replacements.
I have attached a link that will take you directly to our selection of suspension components that you can look through. I have also attached an installation video that you might find helpful.
