Troubleshooting Left Turn Signal on Trailer that Overrides Brake Lights on Right Side of Trailer
Question:
when i installed the wiring kit with a controller on my 2015 caravan, i tapped in to the left side for the brake signal. but when i turn on the left turn signal, i loose the right side brake light, the car harness does not seem to have a constant brake power signal. everything works great til i press the brake with the left turn on. any ideas. ??

It sounds like you are using a universal wiring kit like the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236 on your 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. This is a kit that you hardwire to your vehicle and it has a green wire for the right stop/turn signal, a yellow wire for the left stop/turn signal, a red wire for the stop light, a white wire for the ground, and a brown wire for the tail/running lights.
If your vehicle has the stop signal combined with the turn signals and you connected the red wire to the same wiring that the yellow wire is connected to then that would be why you are only seeing a turn signal when you are braking and turning. If you have a combined system (which you should) then you need to ground the red wire with the white wire.
Since I am not sure what exact harness you have it is a little difficult to say for certain, but I believe that is what is going on. If you let me know what you have (and we carry it) I can let you know for certain what is going on.
