Can I get assistance in how I might install a 24inch wide manual pull-out step onto a rv with formerly a 20inch wide step ?

Wider steps can be installed on RVs but what you'll have to do most likely is remove the old brackets that steps used and install new Outriggers like part # LC301704 to give the new steps something they can attach to.

The brackets we offer which are designed for pull out RV steps are the Outriggers like part #LC301704. We don't have a recommended way to interface these with a lift of any type but these might be able to be used for your application.

On Lippert steps #LC432682 from the top of the mounting surface to the top of the channel the top step slides in measures approximately 5-1/4 inches so it does appear that your outriggers are a little too long.

It sounds like a step stabilizer such as #JSS-85 could work for your trailer. It bolts on but based on your description you may need to make modifications if you want it to work in the same way as your old ones.
