Troubleshooting N.C. Message on Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller Installed on Nissan Frontier
Question:
Hello, I just installed a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller and the appropriate wiring harnesses on my 2017 Nissan Frontier. When I hook it up to my camper, the camper reacts appropriately when I use turn signals, running lights, and brake lights. The prodigy shows “n.c.”, however so I dont think the trailer brakes are activating. I followed the tutorial suggesting I check for power in the blue wire and it all looks good. Still no trailer brakes though. Can you help me?

The "N.C." message you are seeing displayed on your Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller, such as the P2 # 90885, essentially means that the brake controller is not detecting a trailer connection for some reason. I first recommend just making sure that you used the correct Plug-In Harness for your 2017 Frontier, which is the part # 3050-P. Otherwise, this error message be caused by a number of reasons.
First, I recommend checking both the vehicle side and trailer side connectors for any debris or corrosion that might be built up inside the pins. Any rust or debris in the connectors might prevent a solid connection between the two ends.
If everything looks good on the connectors, you will want to move back on the vehicle side. Another possible cause is an open circuit on the brake line. It sounds like you might have already checked this, but just in case, I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check the circuit at different points along the brake output wire (blue) to see if you can find any loss of signal when applying the controller's manual override.
If you are still unable to find the issue, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.
