The Curt Powered Tail Light Converter, part # C59236, will install on your 1999 Mercedes-Benz E300.
A circut tester, part # 40376, to test the circuits in the wiring harnesses that feed the rear tail light assemblies. As each lighting function is activated, use the tester to test each wire looking for the wire that is showing current. The green wire taps into the right turn circuit, the yellow wire to the left turn, the brown wire to the running lamp circuit, the white wire is grounded to the vehicle, and the red wire will tap into one of the brake light circuits if your Mercedes-Benz uses a 3-wire system (vehicle has amber turn signals) or is grounded to the vehicle if the vehicle has a 2-wire system (both brake lamps and turn signals use the same bulb in the tail light assembly). The black wire would be extended using the length of wire included in the kit and ran to the positive battery terminal using the in-line fuse holder.
