Recommended Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack Use on 2017 Honda Civic Sedan

Question:

I have a 2017 Honda Civic sedan and would like to purchase a hitch. I am located in Austin tx but all my tools at back in St Pete FL. Are there locations or vendors that I can have the hitch installed? The hitch would be used for a bike rack.

A trailer hitch can be installed on your vehicle by a qualified mechanic without difficulty; they are installed with relatively few tools so if there is a local mechanic you trust or one that has a solid reputation you know of it will not be a difficult or time-consuming job; roughly a half-hour or so.

The hitch I recommend for your 2017 Honda Civic is the Curt # C11604 because it will not require fascia trimming on your car the way the Draw-Tite option does. Both of the hitch options for your Civic, including the Curt, are Class I and have a 1-1/4" receiver so your bike rack would need to have that size shank. For example something such as the Swagman Chinook # S64683.

Please note this hitch is going to require the use of stabilizing straps # 18050 with all non-trailer accessories such as bike racks and cargo carriers in order to maintain the warranty. I've added a link to a demonstration video for you which shows you how the straps are used. I've also added a link to an install of the hitch and our selection of Class I, 1-1/4" bike racks for you to check out.
