Roof Rack for 2014 Ram ProMaster 3500 Conversion Van

Question:

Hi. Id like to buy a roof rack system for my Ram Promaster 3500 Extended soon-to-be camper van. Id like to find a system that can hold 4 27-lb solar panels. I want to be able to tilt the panels toward the sun. Right now Im mounting them directly to the roof using custom aluminum hardware. I was thinking to use similar hardware, bolted into the roof rack instead. Id also like any ideas on how to carry inflatable paddle boards, either under the solar panels, or along the sides of the van. We dont want to deflate the boards all the time between uses if were traveling a short distance. We also have 2 Maxx Air fans that go up 11.5 inches high. Theyre installed at the very front and very back. We would also need a ladder. . . . perhaps best to chat on the phone. Anyway, wondering if you guys had some good ideas to accommodate such a setup. Thanks!

We do offer specialized roof racks made for tops of vans like your Promaster 3500 and for use on camper shells. We also offer a wide range of paddle board carriers that either mount onto the roof rack or that can be used directly on the roof surface, like foam block carrier # MPG152 from Malone. We even have the awesome vacuum-cup-mount SeaSucker paddle board carrier # 298-BX1806 that gives you the flexibility to position the carrier on almost part of the roof surface.

For a rack for the van I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex black bar system, shown on the linked page along with all of their other options. This rack is made of parts # RRVA180B-2, # RRRLTPFD and # RRVA-FK1-2. Like all racks for your van it has a 220-lb weight rating.

We do offer ladders but these are meant primarily as OEM replacements for trailers and motorhomes.
