2017 Silverado 1500 Snow Chains Recommendation

Question:

Hello. I just recently bought a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd and as part of the paperwork I had to sign a document said I cant run snow chains on this vehicle. Now I plan to go to the snow up in Big Bear Calif so what do I do if chains are required? Thanks.

The signing away of your warranty when using snow chains has unfortunately become normal for some manufacturers. They are attempting to release all liability for the misuse and damage that can result from misuse. Unfortunately you will need to determine if you want to be safe and obey the law or if you want to keep the manufacturer warranty.

When it comes down to the basics, there has to be an ultimate authority you need to follow and state laws will trump the manufacturer warranty. You will need to prove that you have installed them correctly in case anything happens so I recommend taking a picture of the chains installed as well as the posting that requires chains to cover your bases.

I've attached the link to your tire size options so you can ensure a proper fit from the 6 factory tire sizes.

I recommend using Class S compatible chains to give you the maximum clearance when using chains and make sure your max speed doesn't surpass 30 mph.
