New Tow Bar and Baseplate For Towing a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with a 2009 Tundra and Fleetwood Motorhome
Question:
I have just bought a 2007 Jeep wrangler and need to tow it with my 2007 Toyota Tundra and my 2009 Fleetwood pulse motorhome. I now see that there are different towbars for RV or Car towing I don't understand the difference. What baseplate, towbar, brake system, and wiring are recommended? Do I only need one braking system? Thanks

To set up your 2007 Jeep Wrangler to be towed by both your 2007 Toyota Tundra and 2009 Fleetwood Pulse motorhome, you will only need one system for the Jeep which includes a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, and a supplemental braking system. You may be required to have additional wiring for each towing vehicle depending on the supplemental braking system you choose, but the one I will recommend does not require additional parts. I have provided a link to information on towing your vehicle that should be helpful.
I recommend the Demco base plate kit # DM9519292 with the Commander tow bar # DM9511012. The Commander includes the safety cables already so that's one less thing to worry about adding. As long as your motorhome and Tundra have a 2 inch trailer hitch reciever the Commander works with both of them.
To power the Jeep's lights I recommend the Roadmaster diode kit # RM-15267. Once fully installed on the Jeep you just plug into a 7-way connector on either the Fleetwood or the Tundra. If they don't have 7-way connectors they'll need to be added. The Jeep also needs to have its battery disconnected while towing. You can add # RM-766 to make this easier if you'd like.
Finally, a braking system is needed to help when stopping. The Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is the easiest system to use on your Jeep. You just flip a switch when you're ready to tow. The install is more involved than the portable systems but after that you'll be glad you did it.
I have added a couple of videos that will give you an idea of the installation procedure for a base plate kit and wiring, although the parts are different than listed above and the vehicle is different.
