Recommended Aero Crossbars and Fairing for Quieter Ride with Thule Weekender Roof Box
Question:
I bought a used weekender and need to buy crossbars for my 2000 Volvo XC70 wagon. Im concerned that clamping the box to aero bars is going to be noisy. Can I put a t track connector on the box? If not is it worth the cost of aerobars. Will a fairing help?

For your 2000 Volvo V70 XC, the crossbars I recommend are the Thule WingBar Load Bars # TH711420 along with the Thule Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401 and lock cores # TH450400. To reduce noise, aero bars are definitely the route to go. Adding a fairing will give you even less wind noise, so I recommend the Thule AirScreen Fairing for Roof Racks # TH82WV for your application.
Unfortunately there are not t-connectors available for roof boxes to assist with the wind noise by giving that cleaner connection. I recommend using the system you suggested to best mitigate the noise issue.
