It is possible to bypass the transmission cooler of your 2008 Ford Explorer's radiator and run just a supplemental cooler. For that the Derale Cooler part # D13503 would work well as this is a pretty large cooler with dimensions of 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep.
The part number # D13025 comes with fittings that will attach to your current transmission lines. Since you'd need two of the female connectors you'd have to order a quantity of two of these. Then you'll be able to put these fittings on the lines that run to your transmission and route the fluid to the Derale cooler instead.
