According to the owner's manual for your 2017 Ford Escape, tire chains can be installed on the front axle as long as the chains have a link thickness less than 10 mm.
For a premium option, I recommend taking a look at the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains part # TH2004205104. The Konig tire chains will work well in both snow and ice. The diamond shaped pattern will provide better traction and a smoother ride in comparison to a ladder bar type tire chain. The self-tensioning technology incorporated into the chains will ensure a snug and secure fit. The chains come with a kneeling mat and a pair of gloves which is all packaged in a sturdy container.
For a cost effective option, I recommend taking a look at the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC1553. The Titan tire chains are also another good option for increased steering/stopping power in both snow and ice. Like the Konig tire chains, the Titan tire chains also have a diamond shaped pattern for increased tire coverage. The color coded chain makes installation simple.
Both of the above tire chain options will fit the 235/55-17 tires you have on your Escape and have a link thickness less than 10 mm. The main takeaway of the two chains listed above is that the Konig option has rim protection and self-tensioning technology whereas the Titan tire chain option does not.
