How to Complete 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 7-Way on Vehicle
Question:
I own a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the tow package, which included the 7 pin connector. I purchased from you and installed a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller for use on my travel trailer. All works great, but it appears to me that there is not power going to the Battery Pin in the 7 pin harness. I was hoping to be able to give the battery on the travel trailer a charge while driving, but I guess the battery wire does not run to the plug that the brake controller plugs into. How do I connect the factory 7 pin to the battery. Do you sell the harness and instructions to do so. I would assume I would also need to install an in line fuse. Possibly that is included in the wire harness? Thank you.

Expert Reply:
To activate the 12 volt accessory pin of a 7-way (the pin in the 1:00 position) all you really need is a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) and then a circuit breaker like part # 9510 to protect the circuit.
You attach the wire to the back of the 7-way and then run it to the breaker mounted near the battery under the hood, and then connect the wire to the battery.
